چکیده

background and objective: scorpion sting and snakebite are the important problems in some area such as iran that must be addressed. this study was to investigate temporal pattern of scorpion sting and snakebite incidence in patients referred to masjedsoleiman’s main hospital, during 24 months from 21 march 2008 to 20 march 2009. materials and methods: it was an analytical study to scrutiny of monthly and seasonal procedure of scorpion sting and snakebite. data were analyzed by spss and minitab. to identify the goodness of fit model for monthly and seasonal incidence of scorpion sting and snakebite, autoregressive integrated moving average (arima) models were used to explore time series analysis. results: of all 9457scorpion sting and snake-bite cases in patients referring to hospital, 45% (n=4253) were men. mean age of them was 28.26±0.36 years. significant numbers (27%) of these patients had 21-30 years old, and were bitted in urban (93%), at their home (99.7%). the auto regression suggested that monthly average incidents model have a moving average. the analyses through anderson- darling test provide evidence that the distribution of residuals was normal (p= 0.125). conclusion: weather variables can be as the predictors of scorpion sting and snake-bite incidence for masjedsoleiman. references references 1- bahloul m, rekik n, chabchoub i, chaari a, ksibi h, kallel h, et al. neurological complications secondary to severe scorpion envenomation. medical science monitor: international medical journal of experimental and clinical research. 2005; 11(4):cr196-202. 2- ozkan o, carhan a. the neutralizing capacity of androctonus crassicauda antivenom against mesobuthus eupeus scorpion venom.toxicon. 2008; 52(2):375-9. 3- ghaderi h, shariati z, ghodoosi a, ziyaee m. scorpion bites in the north-western of khuzestan province from may 2002 to december 2003. hayat. 2006; 12(2): 73-8. 4- jalali a, vatan pour h, bagherikhalili m, ayatollahi sam, kamalinejad m. the anti-toxicity effects of parkinsonia aculeate against scorpion venom (buthotussaulcyi): in vivo and in vitro studies. journal of medicinal plants. 2005; 5(17): 59-69. 5- abdi a, farshidi h, rahimi s, amini a, eftekhari sft. electrocardiologic and echocardiographic findings in patients with scorpion sting. iranian red crescent medical journal. 2013;15(5):446-7. 6- vatani h, khoobdel m. scorpion fauna in taybad region and scorpion sting status in military environment. journal of military medicine. 2009; 11(1): 7-11. 7- besharat m,vahdani p , abbasi f , koroonifardkhani s . reporting a series of 100 cases of snake bites in loghman hospital between 2000-2005. pajoohandeh journal. 2008; 13(4): 315-20. 8- mortazavi moghaddam q. clinical study of scorpion sting with emphasis on hesitating serotherapy. journal of sabzevar university of medical sciences. 2003; 10(4): 70-5. 9- safdarian f. scorpion bites in hospital admitted children in bandar abbas. bimonthly journal of hormozgan university of medical sciences. 200; 5(2): 26-30. 10-hoseyninasab a, alidosti k, torabinejad mh. epidemiologic study and predisposing factors of scorpion stings in the southern kerman province.journal of medical council of islamic republic of iran.2009; 27(3): 295-301. 11- ozkan o, adiguzel s, kar s, kurt m, yakistiran s, cesaretli y, rman m, karaer z. effects of androctonuscrassicauda (olivier, 1807) (scorpiones: buthidae) venom on rats: correlation among acetylcholinesterase activities and electrolytes levels j. venom. anim. toxins incl. trop. dis. 2007; 13(1): 69-81. 12- heidari m, sepehri g, zahedi m, sheibanitezerji r. evaluation the effects of bezoar on survival duration and attenuation of complications of echiscarinatus snake venom poisoning in mice. journal of rafsenjan university of medical sciences. 2008; 7(4): 259-66. 13- chaichi m. iran is the record of scorpion stings in the world. 2006; 36-39. 14- besharat m, abasi m. snakebites in iran: diagnosis, prevention, treatment. journal of medical council of islamic republic of iran.2009; 27(1): 63-76. 15- dehghani r, valaei n. scorpion bite in iran: review of the literature. kaums journal (feyz). 2005; 9(1): 66-84.
